The Contribution of Supply Chain Management to Logistics Hub in Saudi Arabia
Creating and Improving the Performance of Logistics Hubs
This project aims to explore the role of supply chain management (SCM) in the logistics sector of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) in Saudi Arabia. The NIDLP aims to boost industrial production in Saudi Arabia and transform the country into a leading global provider of logistics services. Having this objective, it seeks to empower businesses by connecting them to new markets, unlocking the potential for growth and innovation under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 plan. Explicitly focusing on Chapter 4,5, and 6 of the textbook “supply chain management”, this project examines the complexities and strategies associated with logistics network design, aligning it with the context of logistics in Saudi Arabia. The logistics sector supports the NIDLP’s objectives by leveraging Saudi Arabia’s strategic location and driving sustainable economic growth. It outlines plans for efficient use of resources such as infrastructure development, transport optimization, facility location selection, stock control, and integrating technology with data analysis. These strategies are intended to achieve optimum performance from within this framework. This research project looks to gain a greater comprehension of the logistical network in Saudi Arabia. It analyzes present challenges and opportunities, evaluates facilities and technology, and makes NIDLP-specific suggestions using case studies, literature review, and data analysis. This report will aid Saudi Arabian logistics stakeholders and policymakers.
