violence has severe consequences for the entire healthcare system. Not
only does violence cause physical and psychological injury to healthcare
workers, but workplace violence and intimidation also make it more
difficult for nurses, doctors, and other clinical staff to provide
quality patient care. More than eight in ten
healthcare workers reported in a National Nurses United survey that they
had experienced workplace violence during the pandemic (Harvard.edu,
2022). You are the chair of a committee that has been tasked to
create a Workplace Violence Prevention Program after your hospital
experienced a major violent event in a nursing unit that resulted in not
only staff being injured but also visitors.
Bilingual Nurses
Specifically,
in the U.S., bilingualism is becoming increasingly valued. More than
350 languages are spoken across the states. Instead of having a
translator and a nurse, hospitals are looking to combine the two and
offer a seamless offering of care. In the coming years, nurses who speak
a second language, mainly Spanish, will be increasingly in demand
(Altus, 2023). You are the chair of a committee that has been established to encourage nurses to become medically fluent in a second language. How will you convince the nurses and administration of the importance of a second language?

resources. With 33% of healthcare workers leaving their employers within
three months, 900,000 nurses to retire by 2025, and 55% reporting
burnout, combatting turnover with
effective retention and onboarding methods is a top priority for
hospitals and healthcare systems

As a manager in your organization, you have been tasked to
create a program that will be sustainable within your organization to
retain nurses and decrease the turnover rate within the organization.
