For this assignment, you will focus on two parts. In Part 1, you will trace the history of the U.S. Constitution. Highlight specific events that resulted in the development of the U.S. Constitution. Describe the purpose and general structure of the U.S. Constitution. Identify sections of the document and briefly describe the main topics covered within them. Discuss which sections cover the amendment process. Discuss the structure of the federal government. More specifically, what are the branches of government? Explain the power that each branch holds.
For Part 2, we will focus on the importance of the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth amendments in the American criminal justice system. For each of the aforementioned amendments, describe and explain how they impacted the American criminal justice system. Also, discuss at least one landmark case per amendment highlighting its notability.
The assignment should be combined as one document, a minimum of four full pages in length (not counting the title and reference page). You are required to use at least four sources. Two must be located using the CSU Library, while the other can be your textbook. Adhere to APA 7th edition style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources used. Please note that no abstract is needed.
