Dear Students,
For this assignment, you will write a 5 to 6-page (excluding the cover page with the title and your name, and the characters and setting page) short play using the attached template.
Please read chapter 6, watch the video on Playwriting manuscriipt format that I posted, the sample student play and template document attached here. The play should only contain two characters and take place in a single setting. The characters are:
Alex – a young man in his 20s
Nancy – a young woman in her late 20s
Setting: an apartment living room in NYC
Remember that the relationship between characters, conflict and place should be stated implicitly in the dialogue. Don’t kill you characters and avoid cliches such as being pregnant with the other’s child, or needing money. Think about what is going on in the world and get inspired….
