Technology has had a major impact in the change of companies, globally. When Amazon started out in 1995, the purpose was to sell books. “Now this mega-company sells hundreds of millions of products, globally, makes its own tablets and phones, and is now planning to start delivering packages via drones. The decision to expand and start selling merchandise significantly changed Amazon forever,” D’Onfro (2015), “Nonetheless, Amazon’s corporate social responsibility programs are designed to address and satisfy the interests of the following stakeholder groups, arranged according to significance:
Customers (most important)
Employees
Communities”
Some of the concerns that the stakeholders might have had was Amazon going to compete with its competitors. A major competitor in 1999 was Ebay. Another concern would have been how was the company going to expand and what type of merchandise is going to be sold and how would it impact the consumers. communication is needed for both these concerns. Senior management would have to communicate with the consumers and employees to understand what their interests are and to provide services that they can not find anywhere else. Senior management would also have to communicate with employees to determine what is needed to provide the competitive edge. This is why the website and the merchandise provided has continue to expand over the last 25 years. Communication has helped Amazon continue to be successful in this change.
