The article review will be a two to three-page synopsis of the peer-reviewed journal article.
Some of the questions needed to be answered are:
What is the main purpose or objective of the paper? Why did the authors undertake this study, and what were they trying to do with their research?
How does the paper fit into the literature and what is its contribution?
Summarize the main premises of the paper.
What type of paper is this? Is it presenting original research, a review article, a clinical case study or trial, or a perspective/commentary?
What techniques does the article use to make its case? Does the article use primary data or highlight existing evidence?
What are the conclusions the author(s) make? Summarize the main conclusions of the article.
What are the most strongly argued points of the paper? Was there a particularly strong point made by the authors or a particularly clever aspect to the article?
Is there an aspect of the paper that could be stronger? Was there a term the authors failed to define or define clearly? Was there a concept the authors mention or rely on for their study/arguments that they did not discuss or could have discussed more fully? What could be added to the study to make it stronger?
