For the Informative Speech, we will be acting as a teacher, essentially increasing the knowledge of the audience. Thus, creating awareness and insight in regards to the topic.
-Informative speeches must be accurate, clear, and interesting for the listener. (ex. providing facts, examples, clarifications, explanations).
-The Informative speech topic will be focused on your present or future career endeavor.
-Thus, your Informative topic will be your career choice.
-Your topic may correlate to a number of different types of examples: the qualifications of a career, educational requirements, benefits, training, a day in a life aspect of a career etc. just to name a few.
-Make sure to read Chapter 16 Informative speaking and review the Informative speech notes in the course documents area.
-Once your topic is approved you may start the development of your speech.
-Presentation dates: Oct. 19th & Oct. 26th
-Presentation order will be announced: TBA
Logistics to Remember:
-Time requirement: 3 to 5 minutes
-Submit a full-sentence typed outline on the day of the presentation;
Times new-roman & 12pt font
-Note cards, outlines, or abbreviated versions of the outline can be used while presenting on the day of the presentation. But a Full-Sentence outline must be submitted for the grade.
-See (chapter 12) for further examples of presentation outlines
-Below I have provided an example format for the full-sentence outline.
-Include a reference page – APA format; of at least two references
-Don’t forget to utilize your college’s library for APA resources, the Blackboard’s homepage APA resources tab, or APA.org for formatting resources.
-Make sure that all presentations are free of demeaning or disrespectful language, in addition to no profanity.
