The Project consists of conducting an “Interview” with “someone” and asking them questions related to violence in the world, it is mainly to study/prove/disprove cultivation theory. You must come up with 5 questions to ask the “interviewee” and they should be about their outlook on violence in the world. The idea is to analyze the interview and come up with three to four themes themes you observed from the interview. YOU SHOULD NOT MENTION MEDIA IN ANY OF THE QUESTIONS BECAUSE IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT.

You should choose either a high, medium, or low user
for your interview. I’m not going to assign you to a group, as I don’t
really know what sorts of media users you have access to. So you choose.
You only need to complete one interview with one person. To help with
your decision, please use the following scale for high, medium, and low
users.
Media use consists of media consumed for entertainment or everyday
information (e.g. news, journalism, docs, etc). Please do not include
media use connected with school, work, or employment:
low: less than 1 hour per day
medium: 1-3 hours per day
high: more than 3 hours per day
– You will be turning in a report. The assignment writeup (found in
the Written Assignments menu item) has everything you’ll need for the
report. The first few items can be listed as bullet points. Once you get
to the Findings and Cultivation sections, you’ll want to start writing
in a more prose format. When reporting your findings, please make sure
to develop your themes with both an overall description of the theme (in
your words), and some relevant quotes from the interview that show the
theme’s development.
– One thing to note is that you need to prove to me that you
understand Cultivation and how to apply the theory. Make sure to put
this content into your paper. This writing will be for the last section
of the report, so don’t forget about that.
