The goal of this assignment is for you to look closely at a Case Study attached to understand not only what points the authors are making, but why they are making those specific points. You are going to analyze the text to understand “how it works.” In other words, how is the text structured, worded, and presented to best convey the information the authors are sharing?
A few things to consider analyzing:
Who is the audience? How can you tell?
Why are they writing this?
What is the main point/claim/finding?
What info does the author present first? Next? Last?
In what detail does the author describe the methodology/research?
Do they explain the scope of the investigation? The importance?
By understanding the investigative question, context, and structure of these texts, you will be more equipped to critically read them and, ultimately, compose your own.
An analytical summary, therefore, presents a summary, or description, of the contextual and structural features used to piece together the research and presentation of that research.

Does more than summarize main points; explains how and why the authors made these points
Identifies the reason the authors are writing
Demonstrates stylistically appropriate writing (should be written in a professional tone)
