After reading Assessment for learning: A key to motivation located in Module 6: Lecture Materials & Resources, discuss the following:
According
to this author, the role of classroom assessment has evolved to the
point to where all students are now expected to meet increasingly
rigorous academic standards. Assessments now must support the learning
of all students so that all can succeed at meeting standards. The author
proposes a balanced assessment whereby achievement gains can be
realized with effective, formative, classroom assessments. If
assessments are to support improvements in student learning, their
results must inform students how to do better the next time by informing
instructional decisions and to encouraging students to try to learn.
