Theories are a framework for helping understand certain topics. They are like a roadmap that helps frame
any type of research. Each profession has their own set of theories that seek to inform and explain a topic
of discussion. Each theory has its own set of explanations, many times the explanation and the theory
relate to the time period in which the theory was developed.

Your task in this assignment is “teach” your classmates a theory, of your choice. Your assignment is not
to simply define theory. Demonstrate that you understand the theory by providing examples and using
literature to support your explanation. Keep in mind that the purpose of this assignment is not to write a
literature paper, you are to develop a powerpoint and explain the theory in 8 (no less) to 15 slides (no more). In
completing the assignment, you should explore how a few textbooks explain the theory of your choice
(Google Scholar will help) and then use scholarly literature to explain how scholars have used the theory.
Scholarly literature refers to journal articles, not newspapers or magazines. You can use newspapers to
provide examples of subjects that you are discussing, but this will not be counted as scholarly literture.
