Instructions:
- Select one area of literacy and language instruction to research (phonological skills, vocabulary/word meaning, whole language skills, or writing skills). Select an age range you are focusing on for your research (K-3 or 4-6).
- Research 5 different activities/strategies for teaching that area to elementary students within the age range selected. You are encouraged to select creative or lesser known teaching strategies, as opposed to well-known strategies like ZooPhonics. Be sure to keep track of where you find information about the strategies to compile in a reference list. In addition to descriptions of the strategies, pay particular attention to WHY a teacher would use that particular strategy in the classroom.
- Create a slides presentation (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, etc) where you describe each strategy, as well as the rationale for using that strategy in the classroom. The presentation should be 6-8 slides long (one slide per strategy, as well as title page and reference list slides). Text should be in bulleted format, and in your own words. Ensure your presentation includes graphics/images in addition to text.
In addition to submitting this as an assignment, you will also post your presentation in a sharing forum in week 8.
