discussion 4.
The nursing-related problem is hospital-acquired infections obtained in the hospital environment by the patients after being admitted to the hospital for other medical or surgical reasons other than the infection problems. For instance, these infections are not present in the individual when their admission to a healthcare facility. Some of the factors which place an individual at risk of developing these infections include a long duration of staying in a healthcare facility, the use of indwelling catheters, failure to follow the handwashing protocol by everybody in a healthcare facility, misuse of the available antibiotics, etc. (Monegro, A. et al., 2020).
From the research articles conducted to determine epidemiology and risk factors contributing to an individual developing hospital-acquired infection in the special care unit for respiratory diseases, the following questions help the researcher obtain the relevant findings. Do the quantitative questions include what healthcare-related factors lead to infection in the hospital? What are individual factors leading to infections in hospitals? What are device-related factors leading to infections in hospitals? However, the qualitative question derived from this research includes. How can the infection prevention of healthcare providers and the patient be explained? The mixed-method question derived from the problem consists of the following. To what extent do the precautions taken by healthcare providers towards controlling infection influence the perception and behavior of patients towards practicing prevention of infection in a healthcare facility as well as at home? (Wang et al., 2019).
However, while searching for the relevant article, the steps involved in the literature review include the following. First, an individual needs to search for the relevant drafted literature concerning the topic and evaluate the sources to identify the preferable articles. The next steps are determining the gaps of study or the problem while moving from a general point of view and narrowing to a specific point of view (Dobrolyubova, E. 2021).
