According to me, the article that stood out most to me was “Objectivizing Fitness.” The simplified objective centered on determining whether social media images shaped body image (Deighton-smith & Bell, 2018). From my perspective the two studies complemented each other – Study one was based on the image, while Study two was based on the text on the image. Most of this research was quantitative in nature. It is noteworthy that this study shows just how much people value pictures and comments. Despite the study’s positive results, I think it is biased as far as the results and gives a false impression of how you will look after the procedure. Although we should be aware that it might not work, it doesn’t seem to be that way when you read the text or look at the images. A better way would be to show all the results and in different stages of progress. Overall, I found it to be a good read with lots of learning opportunities.
