Wildfires begin in different ways as you know. Some are started by lightning; some are started by sparking power lines; and some are of human origin – arson, camp fires, or cigarettes. But once they are started, no matter what the cause, they can ‘explode’ into uncontrollable fires. Discuss the factors that cause a forest wildfire to increase rapidly in size and intensity. Does knowing these factors lead us to prevent, better control and/or manage of these fires? What do you believe are the major reasons that some forest fires ‘explode’ into almost-uncontrollable fires? What means would suggest to ameliorate or solve this problem?
