In this essay, the objective is for you to illustrate how hierarchies have shaped the relationships between different groups of people in regions of New Spain, the country of Mexico, and/or the United States throughout the period from 1865 – 1915. You will show your ability to find historical examples of how different groups of people had more power than other groups of people, and how that influenced the way they treated one another.
In an essay of 3 pages, explain how hierarchies shaped the relationships between different groups of people in the regions of New Spain, Mexico and/or the Southwestern U.S. during the period from 1500-1850.
Use at least three historical examples based on the reading and class material from HIST 124 ( the book from preface, chapter 1 to chapter 3)­, to explain the types of hierarchies that existed and how they affected factors such as government policies, the economy, social attitudes, and resistance to or rebellion against those hierarchies, etc. In your conclusion, explain why it is important to understand this history in our society today. Your conclusion must include an explanation of why YOU think this topic is significant, even today.
