Chapters1-2 Discussion Forum (MP 1/14; RP 1/16) Research Concept
The Moodle Main Post (MP) discussion forum assignment will consist of summarizing information from a topic pertaining to an assigned chapter and reading(s), linked in some form to life experiences, when possible, via Moodle discussion post (research concept or design). The perceived amount of time and effort put into the activity will count for 30 points each time on the given main post. Writing, format, and creativity will also be calculated into your points acquired. For this first assignment you should try to relate a research concept from the chapter to the study of child development (e.g., a research design to assess the reading readiness of a young child).
For the Response Post (RP) discussion forum assignment you will also need to read another student’s post and make an “intelligent” response concerning the topic addressed by the other students (e.g., relevant information on the topic you read in a journal article, the chapter readings, or on a website). Each of your response posts will be worth 10 points and again there will be 3 of them across the entire course, but submit just one (1) for a given MP assignment. Complimenting a fellow student is worth 2 points, and providing additional relevant information on the topic (e.g., your own example) is worth 8 points.
