On the cover sheet state your name; course title and number; the date and time you watched your video observation; and any other information you want to include (school name etc.) l. Additionally, state the approx. age range of the children and the number of children in attendance. How many adults are in the room? What are their titles and/or functions (teacher, assistant, parent volunteer, etc)? Since it is via video please estimate. (You will get an example of a proper Observation Cover Page Attached- FOLLOW IT).
On the following pages, address the purpose of each observation. This should take 3 – 4 pages. (NOT COUNTING THE FLOOR PLAN OR COVER PAGE WHICH MEANS): (I shortened by the way…if you fall short you lose 20 pOints off the top.)
On the LAST PAGE, COMPUTER GENERATE (CUT AND PASTE ETC) a floor plan OF WHAT YOU THINK THE CLASSROOM MAY LOOK LIKE (PUT YOUR OWN SPIN ON IT…GUESS A LITTLE-ENVISION) – labeling all learning centers(of what you could see-envision)
So basically:
A) COVER PAGE,
B) 2-3 PAPER TYPED NEW TIMES ROMAN FONT SIZE 12….YES, SIZE 12…I WILL SAY OT ONE MORE TIME, SIZE 12 DOUBLE-SPACED PAPER WITH PROPER MARGINS-DO NOT PUT ANY HEADING INFO ON YOUR FIRST TYPED PAGE OF YOUR PAPER…IT MUST ALL BE ON THE COVER)
C) THE YOUR FLOOR MAP.

CONTENT OF PAPER:
ESTIMATE how old the children are. How many children (ESTIMATE)? How many adults? (ESTIMATE)
Computer generate a floor plan of the classroom. Label all learning centers.
The MUSIC Learning Center
Describe in detail the Creative Art Center. Discuss its location in reference to the other centers in the classroom. Is this center located in the right place? Why? Describe the materials in the center. How are the materials stored? What materials are freely accessible to the children? What are not? Describe the condition of the materials. Are the materials developmentally appropriate? What is this center lacking?
MUSIC Activity
Describe in detail ONE Creative Arts Activities. Discuss the materials available and how the children used the materials (GET DETAILED). Did the child have the opportunity to freely engage in open-ended art activities or are they told what to do and made to do it. Were the children working in whole groups, small groups or individually? Were these activities process or product oriented? Did you feel that they were creative?
Teacher’s Role
Describe the teacher’s personality and class control. What was the teacher’s role in this activity? Discuss any planning or preparation of materials. What were the teacher’s behavioral objectives? Describe her interaction with the children? Relate conversation and any questions that she asked. Did the teacher ask open-ended questions and encourage critical thinking? Did she achieve her curriculum goals?
Critique
What is your overall impression of this classroom and the art activities observed? Discuss both positive and negative aspects. What would you have done differently? (BE POSITIVE).
