Topic Proposal (5%)
You will submit a 2-page description of your proposed topic and study (as a pdf or Word document). You may propose an experiment on any topic in social development that interests you and is covered in the course (if you would like to propose a topic in social development not covered in the course, please speak with the TA first). On November 1st you will submit your proposal for peer review, and, in turn, you will peer review the work of two others.
Your description should be sufficiently developed that:
(A) you are comfortable having it reviewed by your peers and
(B) it forms a useful basis for developing an experiment. Your proposal must include a citation for at least one empirical article your proposed experiment will build on.
Grading rubric
1. Your 2-page proposed topic (3%)
The grade for this component will come from how well you address the following points:
– You have a 1-2 paragraph introduction that motivates the importance of your question, and its relation to prior literature, ending with a clear description of your research question.
– You have 1-2 paragraph description of how you will address your research question; identify your design and your independent and dependent variables.
– You have a prediction of what you think you would find in your study
– You have identified at least 1 citation that is related to your study
I already choose one research paper to write the proposal, you can just use it to do this assignment. Do not need to come up a research by yourself, just use the research article I uploaded.
