Today we continue our journey through Dante’s vision of hell. Please read cantos 4 and 5 in the CIT Reader (pp. XX) *AND* the PDF of Canto 34. Every one of these posts requires you to develop a question to bring to class.

1) What’s going on with Limbo in Canto 4? Do you recognize any names? How does Limbo relate to the rest of hell; what is the punishment? It doesn’t seem too bad… Make sure to include a key quote in your answer and end your post with a question.
2) At the beginning of Canto V, Dante presents his own vision of a “sorting” ceremony. The damned present themselves to Minos and “declare their major” (sin), and Minos dispatches the damned to their region of hell. Why has Dante constructed his vision of hell in this way (check out the map on page 277)? What do you notice about Minos?
