-To demonstrate productive comparisons and contrasts between Victorian adaptations of the Arthurian tradition with Malory’s late medieval / early modern epic. The goal is to better understand how Alfred Tennyson internalized and altered Malory’s story.
-Choose an element of adaptation theory from the Hutcheon chapter to use as the filter, and then look at one of Tennyson’s poems specifically as a deliberate adaptation of Malory’s Morte Darthur. Be sure to focus: pick a specific element of Hutcheon, and a specific Tennyson poem. You’re going to want to focus even more within Tennyson, once you’ve picked out an element that Tennyson is adapting.
