This week’s readings we have explored the definition of art…but in both assignments this week we are exploring the the purpose of art. What do you think the primary purpose should be? Obviously, there are multiple purposes for art to be created – but which is the most important; which is the most compelling?
Do you agree more with the traditional view (following the Enlightenment ideals and Kinkade) or the more recent movements that celebrate diversity of purpose and style?
Discuss the role of two art objects (the two objects could be a painting, a film, a book, a song, etc.) that changed your perspective on the world around you.
