This paper is a structured essay which may require some research, but can be completed entirely by using Invitation to World Religions. It is intended to help you internalize a basic structure and method for articulately comparing the basic elements of two religions with one another (in example, comparing Judaism with Hinduism. Comparing two sects in the same religion (such as the Christian Methodist versus Catholic) will not be permitted). The structure of this essay is given to you and must be followed within the following parameters: 12 font, Times New Roman, Double Spaced. A good comparison paper will be at minimum 4 pages in length. Do not use Wikipedia as a source.
Paragraph 1: Introduction – Summarize What You Are about to Say
Introduce the Topic (one sentence)
Focus the Topic (one sentence)
Thesis Statement: a statement points of comparison of your two religions. [one sentence in bold which is the last full sentence of your first paragraph.]
Paragraphs 2 and 3: A clear descriiption of each one of your selected religions: one paragraph for each.
This should be several sentences that include the ultimate realities, practices, and cultural impact.
Paragraphs 4, 5, and 6: statement and information supporting your comparison theses.
Give your information supporting your information with details, examples, and key terms and concepts
Paragraphs 7 and/or 8: statement and information supporting your comparison theses.
Conclude your essay with a brief restatement of your thesis and what you have learned in your comparison. A reflective statement with your personal takeaway is a good way to end your essay.
