The topic I would like to speak about is Mass Incarceration and how it has disproportionately affects people of color and other minorities. Also include the war on drugs and the cost of a prisoner per year in the US on average a. Describe the macro-level problem you are trying to solve. Why is this a social problem (e.g. magnitude, severity, who is impacted, financial and human cost and etc.). Support with at least 2 references from literature b. Use the theories (ecosystems and 1 of your choice) to guide in the assessment of your chosen social problem. Start from the micro system, and then expand out to the larger systems (mezzo-macro) in your assessment of the problem. This will illustrate the interconnectedness and transactional nature of the various systems that are impacting and perpetuating the social problem.
