The objective of this lesson is to teach the conventions of the main periods/styles of Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman sculpture: Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic.
1. Look at the images of Greek sculpture by downloading the Greek Sculpture Images document. Using the book as a reference, place each image in one of the three groups: Archaic, Classical, or Hellenistic. Write the group name under that image.
2. List which artworks are in each group and write a brief description of each group (what do the images in the group have in common?)
3. Pick one sculpture from a category. Explain how the sculpture fits that category.
Writing Requirements:
Minimum: 300 words. You must cite all sources, including the textbook, using APA or MLA format.
