Test Evaluation Assignment
conduct an evaluation of a published test and present findings to the class via a PowerPoint Presentation posted online.
Guidelines are provided below (each criteria is worth 4 points) and an
example of a PowerPoint slide presentation is provided attached.
Outline
Subject: Behavior
Observation / Rating Scales and Non-Diagnostic Tests
BASC-2
1.Major
sources of information used:
List at
least three sources of information that you are using to evaluate the
test. Cite the sources in APA style and
include a hyperlink if one is available.
2. The
intended purposes of the test:
Briefly
describe what the test or scale measures and how the results are meant to be
used.
3. Key
scale(s) and the number of items with each:
Note
the number of items in the test and if there are subscales (and the number of
items in each subscale). Also note if
there are alternative forms of the test.
4.
Sources of data:
Describe
the items and what data are being collected (e.g., Items include short stimulus
statements which test takers respond to using a Likert scale, scored as
follows: 1=Strong Disagree, 2=Disagree, 3=Agree, 4=Strongly Agree)
5.
Intended populations:
Describe
the populations for whom the test was intended; identify the samples on which
the test was normed.
6. How administered:
State
if the test given orally, via paper-and-pencil, taken using a computer program,
or online. Are item responses generated
by the person taking the test, or are responses generated by someone observing
the client or someone who knows the client well?
7. Summary
of reliability information:
Report
the types reliability information found, providing the statistics and various
types of reliability coefficients (e.g., for test-retest after a 2 week period
between administrations r= .73, Cronbach’s alpha α = .81). Characterize the reliability (e.g., overall
the reliability of the test was moderate to strong).
8.
Summary of validity estimates:
Report
the types of validity information found providing a brief summary of the type
of validity and the statistics (e.g., predictive validity was supported the
test’s significant correlations with subsequent GPAs).
9. Sources of error with the scale:
Based
on reliability information cites, is the test subject to time sampling error,
or content sampling error or inter-rater error?
Is the test a self-report measure subject to social desirability or
other efforts of the client to present themselves in a certain way on the test.
10.
Strengths of the scale and Additional Comments:
What do
you see as the primary strengths of the test, how is it best used? Anything
else about the test that you’d like to comment on.
