Task :
Because of the building site is in a congested area, a steelwork temporary platform is needed for construction plants transporting excavated spoil materials and other construction materials and plants during the basement construction stage. Specific platform structural materials and site requirements are as follows:
(i) Plan working area of 10m* x 16m* for mobile crane and construction truck operations
(ii) Construction operation load of 30 kN/m2
(iii) Precast Grade 35 concrete panels of 2m* x 2m* for platform decking
(iv) Steel column spaced in grids of 5m* x 8m*
(v) Grade S275* steel for all steelwork sections
You are asked to produce the following temporary work design submission documents:
a) a suitable steel framing plan showing slab, secondary and primary beam and columns
elements;
b) structuraldesigncalculationsfortheprimarysteelbeammemberoftheplatformstructure.
c) structural design for a typical steelwork column which is 4.5 m tall fixed to a concrete
base.

Concrete and Steelwork Design shall comply with the Hong Kong Code of Practices for the Structural Use of Steelwork currently in force.
