Please see below some details regarding the term project for E714. In short, you choose a topic that you would like to work on. Then discuss the (economic) theory related to the topic. Next find related data and do econometric analysis. Finally discuss the results.
You can choose the topic for your project. Any topic is okay if it is related to econometrics. This way, you would be working on a project that you would like. I would like you to choose a topic, talk about the theory, perform regression and some analysis, discuss results, etc. If you have problem finding a topic, please contact me. Some tentative topics are:
Demand for a particular sector (e.g., textile)
Demand for money.
Investment in a sector or aggregate investment in a country/province.
Causality test
Time series analysis of an economic/financial series.
Applying a system of equation method to a market.
There is no limit on the number of pages. But this is a term project not thesis, so that about 7 pages is fine. Of course, it can be more or less than 7 if the situation calls for it. If you have a lot of computer output, you can put them in an appendix and represent a summary of results in the main text.
