Outline Assignment
The outline is the road map to your research project; the purpose of the outline is to create a framework for the research paper.
If you are clear and specific in detailing the outline, include correct in-text citations on any researched evidence, and if you stick to the core structure of the thesis sections, you will have a strong framework that can become the paper.
Before beginning, read and view all of the Readings and Learning Materials for the module so that you know what you are supposed to do on the assignment. Please put in eight credible sources.
To turn in:
Write a 300 to 600 words formal outline for your argumentative research paper
This outline will be filled in to become the research paper, so the more you do here, the less you need to add in the draft.
The outline should be in your voice—no more than 20% direct quotations (Quotation marks indicate copied material; in text citations go on all information, including paraphrasing, from a source)
The outline should have topic sentences followed by in-text cited details in each section.
Topic sentences and corresponding ideas relate to the thesis stated in the beginning. Ideas are insightful and show critical analysis of the topic.
All parts of your outline should be cited and should be written in complete, Standard English sentences.
This outline forms the framework for your paper, so the more specific and detailed your outline, the less work you have on your first draft.
Make sure to work from this basic outline as you write your paper. If your paper alters in form as you write, stop and change the format of your outline, so that you are still working from an outline.
