Motivation behind this topic – Conflict is a frequent aspect in group projects and a significant cause of stress and anxiety to both employees and management when finding a solution to basic and complex tasks. Culture and leadership styles applied by project management teams also affect the approach in which disputes are managed (Tabass et al 2017). Cultural techniques of conflict management in groups may affect the route project teams have being coordinated. Practices of conflict management implemented because of culture may influence the way teams are operated (Jehn et al 2003). Previous research based in the USA proposed that cultures and coordination of a team influence the team productivity along with overall performance (Cupido 2009). The relationship between culture and conflict management has yet to be examined in other cultural environments for instance Ireland (and the UK). As the construction industry is highly multinational in Ireland (and the UK) and is only growing the relevance of this topic is vital. “Thousands of non-national construction workers will be needed to meet housing targets” – IBEC 2019. With 2-3 years of experience in the construction industry, the culture of management and workers is a large cause of conflict in many aspects of a project. 3. Relevance to Business & Management – As conflict can disrupt development on a project and in a company, it may be stated to have great importance in business and management. This ideation topic falls under Project Management, Human Resource Management, and Ethical Business. If a business is undergoing elevated levels of conflict, the growth of the business can be stunted. As this topic is yet to be fully researched in the Irish (and the UK) industry this paper aims to focus on culture and conflict management in the workplace of the construction industry, addresses issues of interest, and proposing possible solutions. The research expects to examine how the cultures of construction project managers may influence their approaches to conflict resolution whilst learning more about conflict management in the ever growing construction industry in Ireland
