Learning Goal: I’m working on a health & medical question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING WORD LIMIT REQUIREMENTS: Please note that each and every assignment has its own word limit. I think I would definitely use the pilot that I did in my internship as a part of my data analysis. I say this because my pilot was a three-month period of these residents trying different kinds of pocket talkers and seeing how they felt about it. This then determines what kind of pocket talker I get for everyone and what is the most beneficial pocket talker for everyone. When it comes to collecting data, I think I would be conducting observations as I will be observing and arranging different observations at different locations as well to see if I am getting the same results in different locations (Community Tool Box, n.d.). I will be looking into the notes I took when interviewing the audiologist, notes I have taken on the coalitions I was involved in as well as the presentation. I think I would choose these methods as I would be giving everyone what they need and just observing and looking at the results from the beginning, middle and end. This will then help me identify the difference from the beginning of the pilot to the end of the pilot. Once I am doing the pilot, I can show that there is a significant change in those using the pocket talkers, maybe there won’t be a change at all, or maybe it just makes things worse for the residence. I will only know this if I am able to do the pilot. Doing this pilot would help me uncover different factors that could be associated with things like changing the environment, changing the kind of pocket talker that they’re used to using, and much more (Community Tool Box, n.d.). I don’t necessarily see myself using a lot of quantitative data. When it comes to qualitative data in the pilot, it would probably be the duration that I’m doing the pilot and how many times I’m going to check in with the residence, the information that they give me from the questionnaires I will have the answer, and seeing how their overall behaviors, environmental conditions, and overall health is as well (Community Tool Box, n.d.). Part of the statistics that I find challenging and don’t really know exactly what to do is once I have all of that data how I am supposed to convert it into a mathematical operation, for example, making it into a chart, table, or spreadsheet (Community Tool Box, n.d.). I also don’t know how I would find the mean, median, and/or the mode when it comes to doing a pilot like this.
