In this final essay, you will reflect on the major communication concepts that most resonated with you in this course, and how you plan to continue practically applying the concepts in your daily life. This is a comprehensive reflection paper, and should show effort and application of a variety of concepts that we have learned throughout the semester.  This paper should be AT LEAST 4 FULL pages long, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman.
Step 1:  Go back to your ice breaker post and look at what it is you wanted to gain from this course.  Briefly review/summarize what your primary goals were in this course and what it is you most wanted to gain as far as communication skills. This should be at least one paragraph long. 
Step 2: Take an “inventory” of your current communication skills and RATE yourself on a scale of 1-10 for each concept/skill you identify.  Did you improve in the areas you wanted to improve in? Why or why not?  How so?  What else did you learn/gain from taking this course? (DO NOT JUST focus on the things you initially identified.  This should be a very comprehensive reflection of what you learned overall).  (At least 3 paragraphs should suffice).
Step 3: What is your “inventory” lacking?  What else do you still need to improve upon?  How do you plan to apply your newfound skills every day?  Tell me, specifically, your ACTION PLAN for improving your current communication skills.  (2-3 paragraphs should suffice)
Step 4: Explain how your own personal development, your personal relationships (friends, family, significant others), and your professional relationships (work relationships) can improve by effectively applying these skills every day.  Be specific.  (2-3 paragraphs should suffice)
Your paper must be AT LEAST 4 pages in length.  Proper English is required, and you will be graded on sentence structure, spelling, and a grammatically error free paper.  You will also be graded on your effort and the QUALITY of your reflection.
You MUST use source citations from your textbook.  BOLD and UNDERLINE the concepts you are referring to, and cite them appropriately. I must see  10 different concepts from throughout your textbook appropriately cited in your paper.  This does not mean to use 10 concepts from just one or two chapters. You must have a good variety across all chapters. NO MORE than 3 concepts PER chapter.

Icebreaker: Drained energizer bunny, coffee lover, and superwoman; fighting for speeders and law breakers by day and booger machines by night.
My name is Jackie, this is my headline. I describe myself as a drained energizer bunny because I truly am truly drained, but I must continue throughout the day and into the late hours of the night. I am a mom of three little humans a 10-year-old and 2 six-year-old. I like to think of myself as the cool mom.  My kids I must say are probably the ones that drain the most energy out of me.  I am also a full-time paralegal at a criminal law firm, and I spend most of my day researching and drafting documents for either traffic cases or criminal cases. I have been a paralegal for over a year now and I absolutely love the legal field. I do plan to further my education and apply to law school in the future. I am bi-lingual, I speak Spanish and English which makes my job so much more exciting for me because often I am able to help people who often feel as though they do not have a voice for themselves. Also, I am currently enrolled in school full time as I mentioned earlier furthering my education. I plan to get my AA in Arts to be able to transfer to ECU next year. Do you understand now why I believe I am superwoman?
After reading the text there is one sentence from box 1.1 that I am a little on both sides of. “Do body movements constitute a language?” I do believe that this can be considered a form of communication and language.  I think is very important to be able to pick up on people’s body language when communicating with someone. Showing the wrong body can show that someone is not interested or listening to the speaker. I also don’t believe that speaking well is more important than listening. I think both carry the same importance when having a conversation. It is very important for each party to be able to interact. I think this is very important in every single conversation we have as humans.I forgot to add in here what I hope to learn in this course and why I am taking it. I chose this course because again I beleive that a strong communication can be the key to many things. I have kids who all three communicate in a different way. My six year olds are still learning to express themselves and how they are feeling. I think this is a good class to be able to learn some skills in being able to navigate through all of this. It is also very important for me to be able to communicate with people at work.
