According to the National Institutes of Health (2021), it is estimated that one in five adults had a mental illness. Some of the most common mental illnesses include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. As America’s population continues to rise, especially with longer life expectancy of an already aging population, mental illness will significantly impact healthcare costs, society, and workforce.
B. Motivation: Implementing mental health awareness and resiliency training in schools and places of employment will provide citizens the cognizance, knowledge, and recognition to build the skills necessary to overcome life challenges.
