Hope you are doing great. I want to apply for a loan assistance program in my State and one of the requirements is to submit a “Personal Statement.” I have never written one before. I drafted this page based on my personal life experiences and was wondering if you help edit it for me. Thank you. Personal Statement: I have always gravitated towards helping the needy as a little adopted girl in West Africa Cameroon. I was adopted at the age of 8 by my Uncle in a small town in Cameroon because my mother was unable to support me. As of date I can remember the psychological trauma being taken away from my mother who loved me dearly but wanted the best life for me. I was assured by my uncle that I was going to get the best education which I did but not without physical, verbal, and emotional abuse from family members. I was certain of the specialty I would venture into when I migrated to the United States of America in the year 2000 pregnant with my first son. It was a difficult cultural transition but a community health center called Casey Clinic now Neighborhood Health Clinic provided free medical treatment for me and my unborn child until I gave birth. My experience with Casey Clinic increased my passion to give back to the underserved community and the only way I could do so at that time was to pursue my dreams as a healthcare worker with dreams that I may one day become a Mental Health provider. I struggled finances as a single mother but I never gave up hope. I started off as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later completed my Licensed Practical Nursing education in Williams Highschool where I graduated as an outstanding student. The Federal student loan facilitated my studies and I was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing – Chamberlain University. My healthcare career almost came to an end when I found out the financial cost of becoming a Psychiatrist but when I learned that I could help the mentally ill population with a Master degree, I immediately applied for a Federal loan and enrolled in Walden University and in 2019, I graduated as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I was able to realize my dreams as a single mother raising two sons. Today I am grateful and proud to be working in the same clinic that helped me and my unborn son when I felt hopeless and worthless. I take pride in helping the underserved population and I cover four clinics in Neighborhood Health. The vision, mission, and values of my company are what I represent. My passion is to continue to advocate for my community by providing the highest quality healthcare and making sure that these patients attain their highest level of health.
