Each student should choose a diverse population (i.e. racial or ethnic group, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) and a “substance” and explore the research on effective interventions (individual, family, group) . The student should apply the evidence of effectiveness specific to this diverse population. The following question should be addressed: What does the research literature state about the effectiveness of the intervention that you are exploring for individuals, families, groups, for the population that you have chosen to focus on?
