CRJ#3 focused on educational barriers, please watch PBS Video: Ken Burns Presents: “College behind Bars” (4 episodes) on Netflix. As a combination assignment, you have watched all four episodes of “When They See Us” and now “College behind Bars” on Netflix. In your reflective journal entry, you will write a 5 page reflection on the following:
Should correctional systems provide their offender population access to college; what are some of the barriers for returning citizens if they do not have a college education; what were some of the barriers the film discussed with the participants in the documentary.
Find two current peer-reviewed journal articles that discusses the educational barriers men and women face when they leave jail/prison. Current journals should be based in the U.S. and between the years 2011 and 2021. Incorporate the readings in your CRJ assessment of the assignment.
