Below are links to the original Milgram Obedience Study as well as updated versions. These experiments were done to see how people would react in various situations as described in Chapter Five in the text. ABC has created an entire series “What Would You Do?” to put people in different situations to see how they will react.
After watching the videos below (you can watch ALL of them however you only have to select 2 videos to watch), how do you think you would react if you were in a in similar experiment? What are the ramifications of these results? Did any of the videos shock you? Many of these can relate to mob mentality and how people can go along with those in power. People tend to shy away from disrupting the norms and therefore do not speak up or walk away when they see something that is wrong. Have you ever experienced this with your friends?
