Before you attempt this task, you should read submissions made by individuals and groups to other inquiries. The submission that you write and hand in is a ‘draft’ but it should be a good enough draft for you to submit a final version based on your draft to the relevant committee if you would like to do so. Your draft inquiry submission will be assessed according to the extent to which it: • Clearly addresses one or more terms of reference for the inquiry; • Develops a coherent set of points or arguments about one or more of those terms of reference; • Provides appropriate examples or evidence to support its points or arguments; and • Contains recommendations that flow from the evidence or arguments provided. What the submission should look like • Read some submissions to other inquiries and scan a committee report or two to see which submissions get used and quoted. • There are few rules.
