Activity Instructions: In this activity you will talk about the concepts of difference and diversity and their relationship to childhood. In this activity you are asked to first explain the distinction between diversity and difference. The activity then requires you to look around your local community to identify three examples of diversity and / or difference, take a photograph (without people included). Describe the three community examples and discuss the impact that these examples have on children’s lived experiences. In your discussion of the impact make reference to key themes of knowledge, subjectivity, power relations and agency and their connection to diversity and difference. Draw from the literature sources that I have mentioned below to thoughtfully make links to theory and key themes. Include a thumbnail image of your examples. Write in structured paragraphs. 1.
