1) First, you need to find at least one scholarly source, current within the last 5 years, that discusses a minimum of three best practices in providing written education to patients and/or their caregiver(s). If needed, you can use multiple scholarly sources to meet the minimum requirement of three best practices. Remember to note the source(s), as you will need to reference it on your completed assignment. 2) Choose a topic that interests you which you will utilize throughout the remainder of this unit to provide patient education. This can be any topic such as a patient condition (ex. CHF), a skill that you need to teach the patient (ex. subcutaneous injection), or education on a discharge plan (ex. how to prevent slips/trips/falls when at home). 3) Perform a literature review and locate a minimum of three reputable sources that you can incorporate into a one page patient handout. At least one of the sources should be a peer-reviewed journal article. Each of these references should have an associated in-text citation in proper APA format. 4) Compile a one page maximum written patient education handout on your chosen topic using the best practice resource that you discovered in step one. 5) On a separate page, include the references that you utilized throughout your assignment.
