As pointed out in your text, ensuring counselor competence is an ongoing responsibility for every counselor. Go to Virginia state board’s website and look up cases of counselor’s who were disciplined by the board. You may want to look under such terms as “case decisions,” enforcement actions,” “actions taken by board,” or “discipline.” If you cannot find your particular state’s disciplinary decisions, then pick another state. Look over the cases that have come before your state board and answer all of the following questions:
What are the most common reasons for a board to discipline a counselor, and what is your personal reaction as you read through the list?
What are some themes you see when you look at the common reasons for board discipline?
Choose one of the more recent cases and discuss the following points:
What was the behavior that led to the discipline?

Case Study Analysis: Summary Assignment
For this assignment, students will use Microsoft Excel to analyze selected Framingham Heart Study data. Students will perform various statistical data analysis to answer specific research questions. Students will provide appropriate tables that summarizes the analysis. After the analysis, the students will provide a summary of each statistical result tables that were created from the data. Included will be a discussion of the appropriateness of the data collection methods used in the study in comparison to other methods. The student will than summarize the data analysis to not exceed 300 words.
Case Study Analysis: Interpretation Assignment
For this assignment, students will utilize the information from the Case Study Analysis Summary Assignment to create an oral presentation in which they summarize and interpret selected data from the Framingham Heart Study. Interpreting data is a crucial part of practical biostatistics that shows mastery of data evaluation and implications for application.
In both the summary paper and oral presentations, students will describe the study sample based on patient characteristics, compare risk factors among men and women, determine which characteristics are associated with Heart Rate through simple and multivariable linear regression, and determine if there are significant differences in risk factors between persons with and without prevalent coronary heart disease (CHD). Included will be a discussion of the appropriateness of the data collection methods used in comparison to other methods that could have been used.
Data are to be concisely interpreted and the resulting summary paper cannot exceed 300 words in length for each question. The student will use the provided Case Study Analysis: Interpretation Grading Rubric to evaluate/grade the case study and report the findings in both written and oral formats.

The idea of Web 3 is interesting. Several years ago, most talk of Web 3 was related the idea of the Semantic Web and organizing information. It was also used to describe the potential change in web content to a more 3D / Virtual nature. Now, most references to Web 3.0 point to Blockchain Technologies. Read over the “Intro to Intelligent Agent” PowerPoint slide to get a general idea of intelligent agents. They are an important aspect of artificial intelligence but have been a topic of increasing importance as they can also be used on, and over the web. Also, check out the article “Web Intelligence”. There are two additional articles that you might find interesting in the “Additional articles folder” but these are not required readings. These are “classic” articles, one on Agents and the other you may recognize. This leads us to the next assignment: Search Engine Assignment (Due by 11:59pm Monday Feb 26). This assignment has two parts that should in total be 2 -3 pages. (More is fine if you run over. It can be double spaced but use 12pt font – Times New Roman, or similar)
Part 1: Explain briefly how search engines work (What are the major components?). Part 2: Find one research article related to search engine technology and summarize. (It could also be an article related to agents and search engines or text retrieval if you prefer). The research article in part 2 must be from a research conference or journal (a scholarly source). Using Blogs, news, or general articles found on the web are not be appropriate for part 2. Like the last assignment, you must submit a copy of your article in PDF format, not a link. Stick to credible sources (and be sure to cite them in APA style). I noticed in the last assignment many of you cited incorrectly, so please review APA style. If you are not sure, remember there are guides on the TU Cook library website. You will also lose points for incorrect citations. I also noticed that many people used various websites and non-peer-reviewed sources. Many appear good and you may have heard of the source before, but they are not peer reviewed. You may come across lots of mathematical formulas regarding how to rank search results, but no need to explain all of this in part 1 (unless you want). Keep in mind that extra spaces, headings, title pages, diagrams, and long citations will not count toward your page length requirement.
