Teen movies, we have all watched them. Some of you may have loved them, others might think they are “corny,” or might find them stereotypical and maybe even offensive. Whatever is true for you, this assignment requires you to analyze a show or movie meant for teens and/or emerging adults. Two examples of movies are “The Kissing Booth” – the first or second one, any of the “High School Musical” movies, etc.(obviously, there are many more examples) Examples of shows are All American, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Blue Mountain State, Riverdale (I’m sure you get the idea). These are just examples to get you thinking, you may use any movie/show that is focused on teens/emerging adults, the main characters must be between the ages of 14-25. You cannot use a show that many teens/emerging adutls watch but is not specifically focused on these populations.
Responsibilities:
1. Find a show or movie geared towards adolescents 14-17 or emerging adults ages 18-25
2. Watch the show/movie. If you choose a show you can watch more than one episode but are not required to do so.
3. Provide a brief summary of the movie /show and description of the primary characters. This area must include more than only one or two descriptions.
4. Using Erik Erikson’s conflict of Identity vs. Role Confusion and James Marcia’s Identity Statuses indicate where each of the characters “fall” on Erik Erikson’s conflict and in which status they align with for James Marcia’s theory.
5. Submit a 2-3 page response to this assignment link by Sunday, 1/2
6. The paper must have a title page and reference page constructed in APA format. The reference page must have a reference for the show/movie.
