Unit 5 Journal

To prepare for this Journal. follow steps 1 and 2, then write a one-paragraph reflection on the benefits of using puppets in early childhood settings. The paragraph should be roughly 150 words.

4)  Write your response in your journal regarding how puppets can help children express emotions. You may elaborate on one or more of the following questions or respond to anything you read and learned from watching the video. l

  • How can teachers use puppets to foster relationships and build connections with all students?
  • Why should teachers not shy away from using puppets even if they believe they are “creative” or that they don’t have the skills of a professional puppeteer?
  • How and why should puppets be utilized in early childhood and elementary school settings for social and emotional learning?
  • How can teachers’ attitudes positively or negatively impact the environment?
  • How can you use puppets to build a classroom community that values children and families of all backgrounds and ethnicities?

Click on a puppet’s name to see a diagram of how to create the puppet, an explanation of the puppet, and a photo of an example of that type of puppet.
