Please submit a short annotated bibliography with sources relevant to the case and a concise summary of possible solutions (~2 pages).

• This is the third week that you will submit an annotated bibliography for the case. Select a specific aspect of this project and look for articles using Google Scholar and the library databases and research guides available through the VWU Hofheimer Library.
• Choose at least 5 sources that are the most closely related to the topic you want to focus on.  Most of these should be from the primary scientific literature (journal publications or edited book chapters).  Give the article’s reference in APA style for each, and will give a 5+ sentence summary of each source.  Your annotation should concisely summarize the research article and provide a brief evaluation of that source.
• Write at least 1-2 paragraphs evaluating that case and making a recommendation based on the articles you found.  Is this particular approach likely to be successful?  Why or why not?  What should be done (if anything) to address this?
• The annotated bibliography will be at least 2-3 pages in total (typed, double spaced, Times New Roman font or some other standard font), but may be longer, based on the kinds of resources that you find.

This module will examine coastal flooding in Norfolk Virginia, including some specific proposals to mitigate this.  To investigate this, we will examine cases in the Netherlands which are heavily managed, but which include controlled flooding as part of the management plan.  We will also address some of the predictions of climate change, the history of the Norfolk area, the potential threats to the area, and the stakeholders in this case.  From there, students will investigate the proposed plan and consider potential advantages and disadvantages.  Students will search the scholarly literature to find cases related to this one, which can shed insight into the proposed plan.  Students will then formulate a recommendation in this case.
