Leaving Dorian Students will apply two theories of human behavior to the main character in the book, “Leaving Dorian” by Linda Dynel. Students should select theories that they believe will yield the most insight into understanding the main character and her situation. Students can include theories covered in classes 2 – 6, theories presented by their classmates, or additional theories not covered in class. Papers should be approximately 10 pages in length and include the following: • Provide a brief summary of the book, which includes a description of the target client and the target problem. (1 pages) • Identify two theories and why they were selected (what are you trying to explain/understand). (1-2 paragraphs) • Describe each theory (include major theorists, key concepts of each theory, assumptions of the theory) (2 pages) • Apply each theory to the main character (2 pages) • Discuss the insight gained by the use of each theory (1/2 – 1 page)) • Discuss the weaknesses of using each theory in isolation (1/2 – 1 page) • How is your understanding of the main character strengthened through the use of two theories opposed to a single theory? (1 -2 paragraphs) • Based on your selected theories, discuss three evidence-based interventions (include citations) (1-2 paragraphs)
