There are TWO sections to be completed and submitted for this assessment. Section I (20 marks) Reflections Response Template Section II (16 marks) Part A Screencast Video 1 Part B (optional) or Parts B and C (optional) Screencast Video 2 Self Assessment ( 2marks) Included in Reflections Response Template Section I (20 marks) In this section you will complete the Scratch activities Units 1- 4 and respond to reflection questions. The reflection responses will be posted to your ePortfolio and will be used as a basis to respond to the questions in the Reflections Response Template. It is expected that you will complete all the unit activities and upload all of your work to your ePortfolio space. You will only be marked on your Reflections Response Template which you will submit. ePortfolio You will be provided with an ePortfolio space (modified forum) to record your activity reflections and store ALL your Scratch activities files. As you progress through Section I you will create code projects in Scratch and add reflections and responses to your ePortfolio. Scratch Coding Project – Reflections You will use uploaded reflections in your ePortfolio with some code projects to complete the assessment tasks: The Reflections Response Template document has space for you to enter reflections. You must use the Reflections Response Template for all submitted responses. (20 marks) You will also perform a self-assessment of your responses to the required reflections in the Reflections Response Template. Section II (16 marks) Scratch Coding Project – Screencast videos In this section you have the options of completing Part A only or continuing to Part B or Parts B and C as well. You can only be awarded marks for the parts that you attempt. This means that you if you choose NOT to do Parts B and C then up to 8 marks cannot be awarded. See marking allocations below. You will prepare at least one screencast video of one of your Scratch Project using Kaltura screen capture software. The Scratch Project that you must use in the screencast video is prescribed below. Part A (8 marks) In UNIT 4 Games and Numeracy activity you will create three Scratch games (MAZE, PONG and SCROLLING). You will choose ONE of these games to be the subject of your Screencast Video 1. You are NOT required to create a new Scratch game beyond what you have already created. You will choose ONE of the games that you have already created in UNIT 4 to add scoring and become the subject of your screencast video. n the Screencast Video 1 you will: Show that your game is playable and has included the required scoring features. Refer to computational thinking strategies that you have used while coding parts of your project. Details of Screencast Video 1: Write your script to prepare what you will say – 4 minutes (+ – 30 seconds) The marker will stop listening after 4:30. – approximately 100 – 150 words per minute. Introduction – Title, Project description, Target audience Demonstrate how to play the game including key features of the game and scoring. Explain some key codes for scoring. What is ONE issue that you had to solve? Give a description of the process of how you solved the issue using computational thinking terms in your explanation. The solution to the problem demonstrates the use of a *logical series of computational thinking strategies to solve the issue. – Note * “a logical series” will refer to the process of solving problems using the computational thinking problem solving method. You will BUILD on the game that you have already created in Part A to add some additional features and become the subject of your second screen cast video. In the Screencast Video 2 you will: Show that your game is playable and has included the required extension features. Explain some of the key code for extensions. Refer to computational thinking strategies that you have used while coding parts of your project. Details of Screencast Video 2 Write your script to prepare what you will say – 4 minutes (+ – 30 seconds) The marker will stop listening after 4:30. – approximately 100 – 150 words per minute. Introduction – Title, Parts completed Demonstrate how to play the game but focus on the extension features. Explain the code for the extensions. For each part, what is ONE issue that you had to solve (TWO issues in total)? Give a description of the process of how you solved each issue using computational thinking terms in your explanation. The solution to the problem demonstrates the use of a *logical series of computational thinking strategies to solve the issue. – Note * Part B issue demonstrates Identification of ONE issue and how you overcame it using a broad range of computational thinking strategies. The solution to the problem demonstrates the use of a logical series of computational thinking strategies to solve the issue Part C issue demonstrates Identification of ONE **complex issue and how you overcame it using computational thinking strategies. The solution to the problem demonstrates the use of a logical series of computational thinking strategies to solve the issue ** A complex issue will be an issue that has more than one layer of issues that must be resolved to solve the problem. Self-assessment (2 marks) You will perform a self-assessment of your responses to the required reflections in the Reflections Response Template. For Parts A, B and C you will perform a self-assessment of your achievement of the task requirements. There are two parts to complete: Performance enabling criteria assigns a score to each part you complete. Performance standard tables to award a SOLO level of achievement for the parts you complete.
