Discussion Boards:

  • there and comment personally on the feedback that they write on the grading rubric.

This video explains the discussion board format of the single thread.

  • Click on “Reply” to post your first “initial” response. Your post will appear in the order in which it was posted. If you are the first to reply, your post will appear at the top. Otherwise, it will be at the bottom until the next person posts their initial response.
  • Scroll through the thread to read the other posts and think about the comments others have made.
  • Click on “Reply” anytime you want to comment on something someone else has posted. Your post will appear under what the other person wrote when you reply to someone else. (Remember, you need to reply to two posts – but you can post more than that if you would like).
  • If anyone replies specifically to your initial post, you will be able to view that by looking at the right side of the discussion and hovering over where it will say “hide” or “unhide” replies.
  • Your instructor will be reading all the posts in the forum throughout the week. However, they will not be responding to every post. They may wait until later in the week to post since the idea is for students to discuss the topics and for the instructor to monitor and redirect or add new information or insight. Typically, instructors write about ten posts, and often their posts will be broader comments that might take into account what other students said on the topic.
  • Please do not be offended if you do not have replies to your posts. Try to see the discussion forum as an actual conversation where people contribute without commenting personally on everything said in the discussion. Be assured that when your instructor grades you, they will see all of your posts collected in one place, so they will read them

This rubric explains how your discussion participation is graded.
