Module 5: Research Question and Objectives

This week you will be writing your research questions and objectives.

The research question responds to four components:

• P (population)
• I (intervention)
• C (Comparison)
• O (outcomes)
• and sometimes T (time). 

They indicate what you want to solve with this research.  For example: What is the impact of text messaging (I) to remind taking the medication in improving blood pressure (O) among Latinos patients (P) with Hypertension compared to (C) with those who don’t text message for three months (T)?.

The objectives relate to the steps you will take to answer the research questions. This week, you will write three objectives for your research question. 

Using the link below as a guideline, write the research question appropriate to your Practice Change Project, then determine three objectives for your question.

Your comments must be written in your own words. Citations of other authors must be adequately documented (author’s name, title, date, etc.). You can offer examples and quotes to support your proposals. 

• Some understanding is received from what is published that synthesizes the information and offers new perspectives or suggestions. 
• The validation or rejection of the idea (supported by your experience or research).  
• New information broadens, adds, or contrasts perspectives (based on reading and evidence).  
• Remember that your work must be original and not contain material copied from books or the Internet. You must respect the intellectual property of the authors and not commit plagiarism. 
• Examine the criteria used to evaluate your assignment to find out how to get the highest grade for your work. The assignments are graded or evaluated through rubrics or the distribution of points. 

Submission Instructions: 

• Submit your initial essay by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday.
• Contribute a minimum of 3 pages. It should include at least five academic sources, formatted and cited in APA.
