Currently the three participants are in a meeting where Kim has voiced concerns regarding a clinical failure based on faculty weaknesses related lack of recognition of cultural practices and indifference to student learning during the clinical experience. After Kim’s concerns are presented the Dean states, “Kim, thank you for meeting with us today, I will be in touch with you before your clinical experience next week after Andre and I meet privately. Thank you again for your time. We want you to be successful.”

We have to talk with patients face to face and I can’t help if he is of Asian descent. Also, I have only been late a few times when my child was sick and I had to make arrangements so I could attend clinical. I am feeling like I am being called out for a student’s incompetence.”At this point the Dean states, “Andre why don’t we back up just a minute and you can help me understand how you prepare for clinical. For example, can you discuss examples of teaching and learning strategies you used to help students meet last week’s clinical outcomes?”Clinical Outcomes
