I‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ need a response to this discussion: There are a number of factors to consider when looking at your physical activity level. Family, friends, time, and work are all factors that affect one’s overall physical activity. Goals need to be attainable and easily met in the timeframe allotted. It is something that I have discovered over the years. The Healthy People website is well worth reading, and I was able to get a lot out of it. The website reports more than 80% of adults are not meeting the guidelines for physical activity. I agree with this statement, although I did not realize the number would be this high. I struggle with getting in enough exercise. Several factors affect me from getting enough exercise, such as working nights, schoolwork, and not getting enough sleep. I have made several changes to my work and sleep schedule. I plan to group my work schedule to be consecutive shifts. Another goal that I have set is to be more organized with schoolwork. To meet this goal, I will be dedicating one day just to schoolwork, which will allow me to be more active and get the physical activity needed. I realize now that I am not meeting all the goals included i‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍n the reading materials from week four. I plan to start using the exercise equipment that I already have at home. I see myself exercising more frequently at home. I also have included my husband in this plan and see this as a method to become more active. I have thought of several creative means to get in enough physical activity. During my work night, I would plan to walk an extra lap around the unit every time I get up to do something. I can easily make time to include this activity on the nights I work. I will start with small increments of time and work my way up to 30 minutes. That would be my plan for those nights that I work. I could meet this goal on my nights off and even work up to more than 30 minutes. I have always wanted to try spinning classes or cross-fit classes. Going to a gym is not something I would be entirely comfortable doing. I think that connecting with someone that already does this type of exercise would be beneficial to my plans. I am also looking forward to seeing what other ideas everyone comes up with. References Bickley, L., & Szilagyi, P. (2017). Bates’ guide to physical examination and history taking.
